Passport services for Maldivian citizens have been launched in Th. Guraidhoo. Maldives Immigration stated that as part of their ongoing efforts to expand Maldivian passport services across the country, passport services were officially launched in Th. Guraidhoo on the evening of November 30th. With this, Maldives Immigration noted that passport services will now be available from three islands in Thaa Atoll, including Vilufushi and Veymandoo.

The government is working to strengthen the decentralized system and arrange for important services that were previously provided centrally to be accessible from local islands. In this regard, efforts are underway to expand passport and ID card services, which are provided under Maldives Immigration, to the atolls. It has been decided to ensure that these services are available in at least one island in each atoll. Residents of the atolls have been incurring significant expenses by traveling to Malé to obtain passports and ID cards. With the availability of these services in the islands, the considerable financial burden on the public will come to an end.
