Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has announced that 26.65 hectares of land have been successfully reclaimed so far as part of the 44.8-hectare land reclamation project in Lh. Naifaru. This initiative aims to transform the island into a major urban center.
Launched in October last year, the project’s scope includes land reclamation as well as the construction of revetments and breakwaters. Work is currently progressing to ensure the remaining phases are completed according to the established schedule. This government-led project is a strategic step toward alleviating housing and space constraints in the densely populated island, while simultaneously fostering regional development.
