Ooredoo Maldives: 20 Years of Service, a Significant Contributor to the Maldives’ Development

Ooredoo has now completed 20 years of service in the Maldives. Introduced to Maldivians on August 1, 2005, under the name Wataniya, Ooredoo Maldives has brought revolutionary changes to the Maldivian telecommunications network. The arrival of an additional company to provide telecommunication services in the Maldives paved the way for further advancement in that sector. Over the past 20 years, the Maldives has become a notable country in the telecommunications field, even within the region.

In 2013, Wataniya was rebranded to “Ooredoo”, while the pleasant advertisements of Wataniya still remain in Maldivians’ memories. As Ooredoo Maldives celebrates its 20th anniversary this year, it has achieved many notable successes over the past years. In recent times, Ooredoo has introduced new innovative services to its customers with various large investments, bringing significant changes to the Maldivian telecommunications industry.

Regarding the 20th anniversary of Ooredoo’s service in the Maldives, Ooredoo Maldives Managing Director and CEO, Khalid Hassan said that Ooredoo always strives to work closely with customers through various services. He also mentioned that currently, 90% of Ooredoo’s employees are Maldivians. “Ooredoo is a global international brand. Ooredoo has made significant investments in the local community of the Maldives. Ooredoo always works to operate closely with its customers. In this regard, I want to highlight that even now, 90% of Ooredoo’s employees are Maldivians. This also shows the importance we place on further advancing the Maldivian telecommunications network,” said Managing Director and CEO, Khalid.

In connection with Ooredoo Maldives’ 20th anniversary, the company has also introduced special offers. Under these offers, the company launched a Live Unlimited campaign in April this year. As part of this campaign, a lucky draw will be held every 20 days among customers who spend 250 rufiyaa or more on any Ooredoo service, with the prize being an Umrah trip. While 19 lucky winners will receive Umrah trips, the 20th and final winner will receive a grand prize of a Hajj trip for two people. Additionally, from the 1st to the 7th of this month, an offer has been introduced where customers can receive up to 20% bonus on certain data packages.

Furthermore, in the first three days of this month, offers were introduced under the name “Spin the Wheel and Win”, and Ooredoo has also introduced an m-Faisaa offer. Under the m-Faisaa offer, customers who pay for Foodees orders via m-Faisaa this month will receive a 5% discount on their next order from Foodees.
