The collection of Zakat al-Fitr for this year’s Ramadan has officially commenced.
According to the Maldives Zakat House, online payment services will be available from the first day of Ramadan until 06:00 AM on the 27th day of the month. To facilitate this process, seven digital platforms have been introduced for the public.
Platforms for Online Payment:
- Dhiraagu App and Dhiraagu Pay (Website)
- Ooredoo m-Faisaa
- Maldives Islamic Bank (Mobile App)
- Bank of Maldives (Mobile App)
- FahiPay
- Avas App
- Bandeyri Pay
Zakat House further noted that payments through Bandeyri Pay and FahiPay will remain open until the final day of Ramadan.
To assist individuals who may face challenges with online transactions, particularly the elderly, physical counters have been established at the seminar hall of the Islamic Centre. The operational hours for these counters during the last ten days of Ramadan have also been announced.
Counter Service Hours:
- From 22 February to 09 March: 10:00 AM to 01:00 PM on all working days.
- From 10 March to 19 March: 11:00 AM to 02:00 PM daily, excluding Fridays and Saturdays.
In the atolls, the respective Island or City Councils will manage the arrangements for receiving Zakat payments in cash.

Zakat al-Fitr is an obligatory charity performed towards the end of Ramadan to support the poor and needy within the community. This obligation was established in the second year of the Hijra, alongside the fasting of Ramadan. The collected funds will be distributed among those registered on the official registry of the poor.
