On average, 6000 tourists daily, China leading

Statistics from the Ministry of Tourism show that the average number of daily tourist arrivals to the Maldives has now increased. According to the latest Tourism Update Report released by the Ministry of Tourism, an average of 6,015 tourists now visit the Maldives daily. In May and June of this year, the average number of daily tourist arrivals to the Maldives was 4,000. Statistics show that by July 30th, a total of 1.2 million tourists had visited the Maldives. This is a 9.5% increase compared to the same period last year.

While the number of tourists has increased, the number of tourists who visited the Maldives in July has exceeded the total number for May and June. According to statistics, more than 180,000 tourists visited the Maldives in July. Looking at the number of tourists coming to the Maldives from individual countries, China leads by a significant margin. Russia is the second largest source of tourists.

• China – 188,317 tourists
• Russia – 152,385 tourists
• United Kingdom – 120,937 tourists

Of the tourists who have visited the Maldives so far this year, the highest percentage stayed in resorts. That’s 73.1% of tourists. The second most popular accommodation type was guesthouses, with 22.0% of tourists. Hotels were the third most popular, with 2.7% of tourists. The Ministry of Tourism aims to attract 2.3 million tourists to the Maldives this year.
