Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) has officially launched “Maldives National Logistics,” a strategic initiative designed to strengthen and modernize the nation’s logistics sector. The service was inaugurated by Minister Moosa Zameer. The primary objective of this venture is to integrate cargo transportation and warehousing processes into a single, cohesive network, thereby establishing a cost-effective and streamlined system for both the business community and the general public.

Under this new service framework, MPL will facilitate “Domestic Transshipment,” enabling the direct transfer of containers from Malé Port to various regional ports across the atolls using MPL’s own fleet. Furthermore, the initiative introduces “Sea-to-Air” cargo services, efficiently linking maritime imports at Malé Port with air freight operations at the international airport.

In addition to these services, MPL is actively working on expanding its infrastructure by developing commercial warehouses in Thilafushi and constructing a new landing craft dedicated to cargo transport. This integrated logistics system is expected to significantly enhance operational efficiency for businesses and serve as a vital catalyst in ensuring the uninterrupted supply of essential commodities throughout the Maldives.
