
First Lady Sajida Mohamed has stated that prioritizing the health and well-being of newborns is the foundation of human well-being. She made these remarks while speaking at the opening ceremony of the Neonatal Nurses Conference. The First Lady said that this topic of infant well-being is connected to every family, every person, and future generations. She emphasized that participants’ cooperation and constructive ideas and discussions are very important for the success of this conference.
“I call for working together for the well-being of newborns. The hope is that new ideas and important discussions will take place. And to achieve positive outcomes from these discussions,” said First Lady Sajida Mohamed.

First Lady Sajida said that in the past, this work was very challenging and many tragic incidents had occurred. She added that even now, this is an area that needs further, rapid advancements. In this regard, she highlighted the importance of developing resources and human skills. “Space and facilities, equipment and resources, human capacity and skills are needed. And in every field, the world’s advanced knowledge and technology, especially the scientific technologies related to newborn care, are needed,” said First Lady Sajida Mohamed. The First Lady stated that we always need to work towards keeping pace with the world’s advanced health systems.
She expressed hope that through this conference, discussions and debates will be held to find solutions to the challenges and resource needs in the Maldives. First Lady Sajida Mohamed concluded her speech by saying that the ultimate goal is to build a society filled with contentment and happiness.
