New Health Center Building Project in Nolhivaranfaru Handed Over to RDC

The construction project for the new building of Nolhivaranfaru Health Center has been handed over to the Road Development Corporation (RDC). The agreement to assign this project to RDC was signed during a meeting held by the President with the people of Nolhivaranfaru. At this meeting, the agreement for the construction of the new building of Nolhivaranfaru Health Center was signed by Dr. Abdullah Muttalib, the Minister of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure, on behalf of the ministry, and Ibrahim Nazeem, the Managing Director, on behalf of the Road Development Corporation Limited.

Speaking about this agreement, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu said that a health center of the highest category will be established as part of the project signed to develop the health sector in Nolhivaranfaru. The President also stated that efforts will be made immediately to increase the services needed for the health center.

“We have decided to proceed with increasing some specialist doctors and additional staff. We will not wait until this project is completed; we will do what can be enhanced now, and you will see these improvements in the near future,” the President said.

The construction of the new building for Nolhivaranfaru Health Center was handed over to RDC with a completion deadline of 365 days. The project was awarded to RDC for 11,478,896.88 Rufiyaa. According to the Ministry of Health, this project will include the establishment of a nurse station, ward, laboratory, procedure room, private room, and a garage with a storage facility.

The Nolhivaranfaru Health Center, which serves a population of approximately 2000 people, notes that on average, between 12 to 15 people visit the doctor daily. The health center states that with the additional laboratory services, the number of people visiting the center will increase, and the need to travel outside the island for tests will come to an end.
