
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has stated that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is the biggest obstacle to regional stability.
Speaking at a meeting of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) addressing Arab League foreign ministers, Erdogan said that Israel’s preemptive attack on Iran, while Iran was prepared to start new negotiations with the United States regarding its nuclear program, was an act of sabotaging the negotiations. Erdogan called on any country with influence over the Jewish state to turn a deaf ear to Israel’s “poisonous” rhetoric. He also appealed for a diplomatic solution to the ongoing attacks on Iran and urged not to allow the situation to deteriorate further.
Erdogan further stated that Netanyahu and his government do not desire to resolve any issue peacefully. Describing Netanyahu’s objective as a Zionist goal, Erdogan added that Netanyahu’s aim is to lead the Middle East region and the entire world into destruction and calamity. Erdogan accused Western leaders of unconditionally supporting and assisting Israel. He said that Turkey would not allow the regional borders of Middle Eastern countries to be redrawn with blood. Emphasizing the crucial importance of countries working together to stop Israel’s plunder and malicious acts, Erdogan stated that in addition to Palestine, the damage Israel is inflicting on Syria, Lebanon, and Iran must be stopped.
The OIC, comprising 57 member states, was founded in 1969. The organization’s goal is to safeguard and protectd protect the interests of the Muslim world in the spirit of promoting international peace and harmony.
