Following years of dedication and tireless efforts by various individuals to develop the sport locally, the Maldives has now successfully claimed its position as the king of South Asian futsal.
Although the journey began in 2004 with significant setbacks in the international arena, the national team persevered, gaining invaluable experience through every trial. A pivotal foundation for this ultimate success was the intensive training camp held in China under the guidance of a foreign head coach in preparation for the 2026 SAFF Futsal Championship. By maintaining an undefeated record throughout the tournament, the Maldives lifted the regional trophy for the first time, showcasing exceptional Maldivian talent to the world.
