Multi-Specialty Surgical Wing with with Modern Facilities Opened at IGMH

The newly opened 75-bed Multi-Specialty Surgical Wing is a facility specially designed to provide services to patients admitted under General Surgery, Neurosurgery, Plastic Surgery, Urology, and Orthopedics specialties among surgical patients. To improve the quality of services provided from this wing and to provide the most appropriate care to patients, this place has been designed to treat patients with various types of critical conditions as well. As such, IGMH stated that the wing includes a Surgical Specialty HDU, a Step Down Unit, a Surgical General General Unit, an Orthopedic Post-operative Care Unit, and an Orthopedic General Unit.

The general ward of this facility includes 44 beds, and the High Dependency Unit has 15 beds. Additionally, there is a special 14-room private ward and a separate 2-bed unit specially designated for burn care. Moreover, 28 toilets and 6 nursing stations have been established. With all these facilities, IGMH states that this wing is fully prepared to provide modern-standard surgical and orthopedic services with state-of-the-art facilities.

New heights in service quality with the new Multi-Specialty Surgical Wing!

With this new Multi-Specialty Surgical Wing, IGMH says that the health services provided by the hospital will be further expanded. The improvements that will be gained include:

• Improved service quality: With modern facilities, the quality of care will be further enhanced.
• Reduced waiting time for operations: With additional beds and units, patients will receive faster service.
• Expansion of specialized care services: With units dedicated to specific types of care, additional specialized treatments will become available.
• Easier access to private rooms for surgical inpatients: With the private ward, additional conveniences will be available for those who desire privacy.

• Increased comprehensiveness of care: With many services available in one place, care will be provided more comprehensively.

With these changes, IGMH states that the health sector of the Maldives will see significant progress, and the quality of services provided to the public will improve.

The government of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has been undertaking important work to increase the resources and capacity of IGMH, the main government hospital, to provide high-quality health services to the public. As such, Dharumavantha Hospital was officially opened on November 15th as a tertiary hospital with all modern facilities. Under the special guidance and advice of the President, and asd as part of the work to implement his health sector pledges, state-of-the-art facilities have been established in that hospital.

Accordingly, a brand new National Fertility Center has been established and is now providing services. Additionally, a hybrid cath lab has been established with Neurosurgical, Endovascular, and Interventional Radiology services. Moreover, a special emergency room for children has also been established.
