MIFCO has released 4.5 million rufiyaa to fishermen. MIFCO stated that they have paid today for the fish weighed at MIFCO centers from boats on the 11th of this month. MIFCO said that 23 fishing boats had weighed fish during those 11 days. MIFCO stated that they have paid a total of 4,596,429.66 rufiyaa to those boats. They said that the money would be received by the boats before 16:30 this evening.
MIFCO has been paying for fish weighed within 48 hours, in line with President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s pledge. This government is working to develop the fishing industry and arrange for fishermen to get fuel at STO rates. As such, in addition to the Hulhumalé Kanneli Jetty, they have now started selling fuel at STO rates from K. Hinmafushi, Lh. Felivaru, GA. Kooddoo, and S. Hulhudhoo.
MIFCO also sells fuel to fishermen on credit. And that money is being deducted from the payments for fish weighed at MIFCO.
