A mosque constructed by a private party in Hulhumalé Phase 2 is scheduled to open next week. This mosque has been named Masjidul-Eemaan. The Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed, stated that the mosque is planned to open next week. He added that an additional 3 or 4 mosques in Hulhumalé Phase 2 are expected to be completed in the upcoming year, with some of them currently in their final stages of construction.
Minister Dr. Shaheem emphasized that a key objective for the coming year is to establish a sufficient number of permanent mosques in Hulhumalé Phase 2, enabling the removal of temporary prayer facilities. The government has also announced plans to complete approximately 15 mosque construction projects across various parts of the Maldives and inaugurate them before the month of Ramadan. These newly opening mosques will include one in Malé and several in Hulhumalé Phase 2. Furthermore, in an effort to address the current shortage of permanent mosques in Hulhumalé Phase 2, preparations are underway to commence practical work on constructing additional permanent mosques in the area.
