As the Thilamale’ Bridge project continues to progress, the Minister of Construction and Infrastructure, Dr. Abdulla Muththalib, has stated that the bridge connection between Male’ and Villimale’ is expected to be established by the end of this year. Although the project has faced some delays in achieving the desired momentum due to challenges encountered by the contractor, discussions are currently underway with both the Indian government and the contractor to expedite the remaining work. The current estimation is to have the entire project completed by the end of 2027. With a substantial portion of the work already finished, this $500 million mega-project is being carried out through financial assistance and loans provided by the Government of India.
