Maldives women’s team also loses to Sri Lanka

In the FIBA U16 Asian Cup Qualifiers, the Maldives young women’s team has lost their match against Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka won this match 71-45. Sri Lanka increased the pressure on the Maldives by winning the first quarter 15-13. In the second quarter, Sri Lanka intensified their game and reached 30 points. The Maldives scored 16 points in this quarter. Sri Lanka finished the third quarter reaching 50 points. The Maldives scored 34 points.

In the fourth quarter of the match, Sri Lanka reached 71 points while the Maldives scored 45 points. The best performers for the Sri Lankan team were Binuti Jayasinghe, who scored 24 points, and Tahara Arzoon, who scored 23 points. For the Maldives, the best performers were Mariyam Malak Mohamed Sifan, who scored 14 points, and Kaisam Kaileen Nimal, who scored 13 points.

The Maldives women’s team will next face India tomorrow evening at 17:30. If the Maldives wins against India, they will secure a place in the final. If the Maldives loses this match, they will have to play in the third-place playoff match.
