
The Maldives has recorded over 300,000 tourist arrivals so far this year, marking a 5.1% increase compared to the same period last year. A record-breaking 10,462 tourists arrived on the 8th of this month alone, with the majority of visitors hailing from China, Russia, and Italy.
While most travelers enter the country through Velana International Airport, there are currently 1,275 tourist establishments providing services across the archipelago. The government has set an ambitious target to attract 2.5 million tourists by the end of this year.
