
The Government of the Maldives has welcomed the decision by the Yemeni government to seek a negotiated settlement to the ongoing conflict in the country.
Saudi Arabia has been spearheading efforts to resolve the internal instability and civil unrest within Yemen.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Maldives stated that the Maldivian government is closely monitoring the situation in Yemen. The Ministry further reaffirmed that the Government of Maldives extends its full support to the internationally recognized government of Yemen.
The Maldives welcomed the invitation extended by Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council to seek a political resolution through dialogue. Additionally, the Maldivian government expressed its appreciation for Saudi Arabia’s decision to host the reconciliation conference in its capital, Riyadh. The Foreign Ministry noted that this initiative reflects the high priority Saudi Arabia accords to establishing stability, security, and a peaceful resolution in Yemen.
In previous statements regarding the Yemeni crisis, the Maldives highlighted that the cooperation of all internal stakeholders is essential to achieving a lasting solution. The Government also emphasized the importance of ensuring peace, stability, and prosperity for the people of Yemen through these efforts.
