
According to the latest statistics from the central bank, fish exports from the Maldives saw a remarkable 87% increase by the end of November 2025 compared to the same period in 2024. During this timeframe, a total of 69,564 metric tons of fish were exported, with frozen fish exports experiencing the most significant growth. Additionally, the export of canned and other processed fish products also demonstrated a substantial rise. The government aims to increase the country’s fish processing capacity ninefold over the next three years to enhance the economic benefits derived from the fisheries industry.
