The Maldives has been placed in Group D of the 1st Asian Men’s Under-17 Handball Championship, which begins next month. The tournament, to be held in Amman, the capital of Jordan, from July 1-11, will see the Maldives grouped with Korea, Iran, and Uzbekistan. The Maldivian team is currently conducting training sessions in Hulhumalé in preparation for this first-ever handball tournament for boys under 17 years old, open to Asian countries.
The tournament is divided into four groups. Group A consists of Kuwait, Bahrain, and Hong Kong. Group B includes Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and China. Group C comprises Jordan, Chinese Taipei, and India. The Asian Handball Federation announced the groups for the teams competing in the 1st Asian Men’s Under-17 Handball Championship yesterday.
