
The Government of Maldives has strongly condemned the attack on the Consulate of the United Arab Emirates in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. In an official statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Maldives emphasized that any assault on diplomatic premises is a direct violation of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations. The Ministry further highlighted that such actions represent a dangerous disregard for established international diplomatic norms and principles.
The Maldivian Government stressed the vital importance of ensuring the protection and security of diplomatic missions worldwide. Furthermore, the statement reaffirmed the Maldives’ solidarity with the government and people of the United Arab Emirates during this time. The drone attack on the UAE Consulate in Iraq’s Kurdistan Region reportedly took place late Monday night.
