Liverpool’s fast forward from Colombia, Luis Díaz, has been sold for 75 million euros.
The player, who performed exceptionally well for Liverpool in the past two seasons, was sold due to his own desire to leave. He initially wanted to go to Barcelona in Spain. However, the club couldn’t afford the price Liverpool was asking.
It was after this that Al-Ittihad made an offer to buy him. One of the main reasons Liverpool accepted this offer was to bid for Newcastle’s forward Alexander Isak.
Al-Ittihad initially offered 58 million pounds. However, as the price increased, Liverpool has released the 28-year-old player from training sessions to allow him to talk with Al-Ittihad.
Díaz joined Liverpool in 2022 from Porto in Portugal for 37 million pounds. He has scored 41 goals in 148 matches for Liverpool. In the last season, Liverpool won the Premier League with his contribution of 13 goals.
Al-Ittihad wanted to buy him to strengthen their forward line. Especially after forward Jamal Musiala injured his foot in the Club Club World Cup, the club intensified its search for a player in that position.
As Díaz leaves Liverpool, the team has already made significant investments to strengthen for the upcoming season. In this regard, Bayer Leverkusen’s attacking midfielder Florian Wirtz and France’s forward Houssem Aouar are players brought in to strengthen the team’s offense.
