Liverpool FC has announced that they may have to cease their efforts to acquire Newcastle United’s forward Alexander Isak.
The Premier League champions made this statement after Newcastle United rejected Liverpool’s bid of 110 million pounds for Isak.
According to media reports, Newcastle is seeking 150 million pounds to sell Isak. Therefore, it is believed that the team rejected Liverpool’s bid to increase the amount.
While Newcastle has rejected Liverpool’s bid for Isak, the player has not joined Newcastle’s ongoing tour in Asia. Initially, Newcastle stated that Isak was not participating in this tour due to an injury. However, Isak has since begun training exclusively with his former club, Real Sociedad of Spain.
Isak, who joined Newcastle United from Real Sociedad for a fee of 60 million pounds in 2022, played a crucial role in helping the team win a major trophy for the first time in 56 years last season. Newcastle won the English Carabao Cup in the previous season.
Although media reported in July that Liverpool was preparing to submit a 130 million pound offer to Newcastle, the club maintained at the time that Isak was not for sale.
Liverpool has already strengthened their team for the upcoming season by signing players like Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike, Milos Kerkez, and Jeremy Frimpong. The club has spent a total of 265 million pounds on player acquisitions during the current transfer window.
