The week before, 3.9 million rufiyaa was released to fishermen. This represents a 70.6 percent increase from week to week. The highest amount of money was released to fishermen on Saturday last week. week. On that day, 35 boats delivered fish to MIFCO, and a total of 1.53 million rufiyaa was released to those boats.
With the fishing season approaching, MIFCO is preparing for the season. This year’s fishing season will begin next month. MIFCO is working on improving the condition of its centers and increasing processing capacity. This includes upgrading the factory in Kooddoo and carrying out repairs in the harbor area. Additionally, the company has stated that they will be prepared to send fishing vessels to good fishing areas in advance.
As MIFCO prepares for the fishing season, the government’s goal is to diversify and develop the industry. In this regard, a national brand called “From Maldives” has been introduced specifically for fishery products exported from the Maldives.
