Thousands of people have gathered in various regions of Australia, raising their voices against the terrorist state of Israel in support of the Palestinian people. These demonstrations are taking place at a time when relations between the two countries have significantly deteriorated, with Israel expressing dissatisfaction over Australia’s decision to recognize Palestine as an independent state. The Palestinian Action Group, which organized these protests, stated that over 40 demonstrations were held across different parts of Australia. According to the organization, approximately 350,000 people participated in rallies held in Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane.

Participants in these demonstrations called for an immediate end to the genocidal actions carried out by the terrorist state of Israel, which has been starving the Gaza Strip. On the 11th of this month, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese announced that Australia would officially recognize Palestine as an independent state at the upcoming United Nations General Assembly meeting next month. He stated that this decision was made to push for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state. Albanese also revealed that the decision was made based on the cabinet’s consultation and the Palestinian Authority’s assurance that Hamas would not have a role in the government of an established independent Palestinian state.

Subsequently, Israel’s aggressive Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu launched a series of heated verbal attacks against Albanese. In addition to Australia, France and the United Kingdom have also stated that they will recognize Palestine as an independent state if the aggression against Gaza does not cease before the UN General Assembly in September. Israel is already facing international pressure due to the starvation crisis in Gaza. As a result of mounting criticism, Israel has been forced at times to pause its attacks on Gaza and allow the entry entry of aid supplies. Although Israel said it would provide this opportunity starting from July 27, the World Food Programme (WFP) has stated that it has not received the necessary permissions to bring aid supplies into Gaza.

Aid organizations continue to report that the number of people suffering from hunger, malnutrition, and other hunger-related illnesses in Gaza is increasing, leading to a significant rise in hunger-related deaths. Unable to endure Israel’s aggressions, the Hamas group governing Gaza launched a jihadi attack targeting Israel on October 7, 2023. In retaliation, the Israeli army began a genocide to exterminate the people of Gaza. Although attacks were briefly suspended under a ceasefire agreement between Hamas and Israel that came into effect on January 19, Israel violated the agreement and resumed attacks on Gaza on March 18.

Since the beginning of the aggression, the total number of martyrs in Gaza has now exceeded 61,000. The The entire Gaza Strip has been devastated as a result of these attacks.
