Land with Casamia handed over to Mathiveri Council

The land allocated to former MP of of Kaashidhoo constituency, Abdullah Jabir, from the tourism zone of AA. Mathiveri has been handed over to the Mathiveri Council. A 50-room guesthouse named Casamia is currently being operated on the land allocated from the Mathiveri Tourism Zone. This land was handed was handed over to the Mathiveri Council during a meeting held by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu with the people of Mathiveri. At this meeting, the document transferring the land to the Mathiveri Council was presented by the Minister of Tourism and Environment, Tariq Ibrahim. The document was received on behalf of the council by Council President Ahmed Aslam. While handing over this land to the island council, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu had stated on December 9th of last year that he would ensure the land would be made available to the people of AA. Mathiveri.

In his speech during the meeting with the people of Mathiveri, the President expressed hope that the residents would make full use of the tourism zone land and assured that the government would provide support for this. The land was initially given to former MP of Kaashidhoo constituency, Abdullah Jabir, for guesthouse operations for a period of 10 years. However, the previous government had extended the agreement for 50 years at a rate of 5 rufiyaa per square foot, in violation of procedures. This has resulted in the island council losing millions of rufiyaa. Additionally, due to unpaid electricity bills and rent, the state has incurred a loss of 94 million rufiyaa, according to relevant authorities.
