President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu announced that the land reclamation for areas already allocated in Gulhifalhu and Giraavarufalhu is projected to be completed within the next three months. The President further stated that reclamation work for designated housing project sites is proceeding at a significant pace. Responding to a question from a youth during the “Youth Coffee with President” session regarding housing projects in the Malé region, President Muizzu confirmed the rapid progress of the Hulhumalé Phase 3 reclamation efforts.

President Muizzu elaborated that two dredgers are currently operating 24 hours a day to expedite the land reclamation for Hulhumalé Phase 3. Upon the completion of this phase, these dredgers will be redeployed for the reclamation of Giraavarufalhu. He stated, “This work will commence next month. The current estimation is that all un-reclaimed areas for which plots have already been allocated, specifically Hulhumalé Phase 3 and Giraavarufalhu, will be fully reclaimed within three months.”
The President also mentioned that all areas for which plots were allocated in Gulhifalhu have already been fully reclaimed. However, he added that further land reclamation is planned for Gulhifalhu for various economic purposes. As part of the process to hand over land registries to those who received plots from Gulhifalhu under the “Gedhoruveriya” scheme, over 2,000 individuals have so far received their land registries. The distribution of these registries commenced on July 12th of last year.
