Fenaka Corporation Limited has stated that they are working on obtaining the spare parts needed to resolve the current electricity issue faced by the connected islands of Addu City. In a statement released by Fenaka, they said that some gensets of the CPS installed in Addu City have encountered problems, affecting the electricity service, and they are working to resolve this issue. As a result of these efforts, they have received spare parts, and the problem with one genset will be resolved today, according to Fenaka.

They also mentioned that as soon as the remaining spare parts are received, work will be done to fix the other gensets. Until this issue is resolved, to manage the electricity load, Fenaka has announced that power will be cut off from various areas of the connected islands according to a schedule. Fenaka deeply apologizes for the inconvenience this may cause to the residents of the connected islands of Addu and assures that they are continuously working to resolve this issue as quickly as possible and return the electricity service to normal.

On April 18 of last year, China’s Dongfang Electric International Corporation was contracted to establish a 30 MW power plant in Addu City to solve the electricity problems faced by the connected islands. Fenaka had previously stated that the old generators were in disrepair due to lack of maintenance, and that electricity was being supplied to the city using about 18 generators. Fenaka continues to work on obtaining spare parts to improve the condition of the generators, increasing capacity, and sending additional generators to replace the damaged ones.
