The Israeli forces have begun to increase and expand their terrorist attacks on Lebanon, violating the ceasefire agreement currently in effect with the Lebanese government. Israel and Lebanon formulated this agreement in November 2024. Respecting this agreement, Hezbollah, the militant group operating in Lebanon, had suspended its attacks against Israel. However, Israel continues to violate the agreement by targeting southern Lebanese territories with terrorist attacks. In some instances, Israeli soldiers have even invaded southern Lebanese villages and committed inhumane crimes.
Israel’s most recent attacks have targeted the village of Kafr Sira in the Nabatieh District. Four people were martyred in these air airstrikes, and three others were wounded, according to Lebanon’s Ministry of Public Health. The Lebanese state media, Lebanon News Agency, reported that Israel used dangerous missiles in conducting these attacks. These latest Israeli strikes come at a time when Lebanese President Youssef Aoun has strongly condemned Israel’s inhumane crimes. Aoun stated that Israel is working to increase attacks on Lebanon contrary to the agreement and destabilize the situation. He has ordered the Lebanese military to work to stop Israeli attacks and respond to them.
Under the agreement between the Lebanese government and Israel, Israeli forces that have invaded Lebanon must withdraw from the country. However, Israeli forces continue to operate in five areas in southern Lebanon. Violating the agreement, they continue to attack Lebanese civilians and commit crimes on a daily basis. According to the United Nations, the number of people martyred in Israeli terrorist attacks since the implementation of the agreement has risen to 111.
President Aoun has said he has proposed consultations regarding the liberation of southern Lebanese territories occupied and seized by Israeli forces. However, it is unclear whether Israel and its biggest supporter, the United States, have accepted Aoun’s proposal. In accordance with the agreement, the Lebanese government and military are currently working to find and eliminate weapons in the southern regions of the country. According to the agreement, Hezbollah is prohibited from possessing weapons near the territorial line between Lebanon and Zionist Israel.
