Following their trip to the Maldives, the International Soccer Academy (ISA) will next take players to play matches with Chelsea Football Club, according to the academy’s director Keith Ellejer. Sharing the experience of the ISA Youth Football Tour from Australia with PSM News, Ellejer said they are considering coming to the Maldives every year. He stated that the academy will next go to gain experience with Chelsea Football Club, and they have decided to take senior players to London in September.
Ellejer said they will return to the Maldives with skills learned in Europe, and next year they will work on teaching European football techniques to Maldivian players. He also mentioned that the hope is to find ways to provide opportunities for Maldivian players to gain experience and training by taking them to Germany and England. Ellejer stated that they will work on finding ways for Maldivian football players to receive European football training to improve their skills, and they will also work on training for coaches in addition to players.
Under an agreement with the Chelsea Foundation, senior players also went on a training trip to Chelsea last January. ISA’s trip to the Maldives was with the assistance of the Western Australia Maldivian Association. Maldives Soccer Mates took the lead in organizing the ISA tour in the Maldives. This was a successful trip conducted with great cooperation from the Ministry of Sports and FAM.
