Iran has issued a strong warning, stating that the consequences will be bitter if Western powers decide to reimpose sanctions against Iran. The spokesperson for Iran’s Foreign Ministry, Ismail Bagheri, said that the main three Western powers are working through the United Nations (UN) to impose sanctions against Iran. He added that Iran has warned that if such actions are taken, the consequences will be bitter. Iran is currently holding discussions with the United Kingdom, France, and Germany, considered the three Western powers, regarding Iran’s nuclear program. Officials from Iran recently held important meetings with senior officials from these three countries, known as ‘E3’, in Geneva, Switzerland. The E3 countries are working to reimpose sanctions against Iran through the UN. However, Bagheri stated that these countries do not have the right to do so, and they have been informed of this. He also mentioned that the four countries have decided to proceed with further consultations.
The disagreement between Iran and the West centers around Iran’s nuclear program. Iran wants to run a peaceful nuclear program. However, the United States, along with Western powers and Israel, continue to accuse it of being a program to produce nuclear weapons. The US is Israel’s biggest supporter. US President Donald Trump and Israel describe Iran’s nuclear program as the biggest threat to the security, future, and existence of the Zionist state. Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has recently warned President Trump, stating that Iran will not be intimidated by US threats and will not submit to US orders. Khamenei said that the disagreements between Tehran and Washington are not resolvable.
Recently, Trump initiated important discussions between the two countries to influence and control Iran’s nuclear program. However, rejecting this, Israel has launched terrorist attacks against Iran. These attacks lasted for 12 days. Israel’s attacks targeted the main centers of Iran’s nuclear program. On June 22, the US also joined Israel. They launched powerful attacks using dangerous weapons on three Iranian nuclear facilities. With these attacks by Israel and Trump against Iran, Iran has suspended the ongoing discussions with the US.
