Iran Refuses to Allow Monitoring of Nuclear Project, Halt Uranium Enrichment: Trump

President Donald Trump of the United States has stated that Iran has not agreed to allow monitoring of its nuclear project and to halt uranium enrichment. On June 13, Israel began launching severe attacks on Iran, claiming to obstruct Iran’s nuclear project. In these attacks, many Iranian military commanders, nuclear scientists, and civilians were martyred. In retaliation, Iran initiated a special military operation called “Operation True Promise 3” and launched powerful attacks on key areas of the Jewish state. Subsequently, on June 22, the United States also bombed Iran’s nuclear facilities. They targeted Iran’s main nuclear facilities in Isfahan, Fordow, and Natanz. After the attack, President Donald Trump claimed that Iran’s nuclear facilities had been completely destroyed. In response, Iran attacked the largest U.S. military base in Qatar. Afterwards, Israel and Iran agreed to cease exchanging attacks.

On July 5, Trump said that the attacks had permanently halted Iran’s nuclear project. He stated that if Iran wants to continue its nuclear project, they would have to start the work in a new location. Trump mentioned that he would discuss Iran’s decision with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during their scheduled meeting on July 7. Iran believes that Israel and the U.S. gained international protection and impetus to launch attacks on Iran after the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), which was monitoring Iran’s nuclear project, accused Iran of violating the agreement with the agency. Displeased with this, Iran’s parliament passed a resolution to end cooperation with the IAEA. However, Iran’s government has not officially notified the IAEA of this decision, which the agency also confirms. Nevertheless, the IAEA has now withdrawn its inspectors from Iran.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that Iran would continue to cooperate with the IAEA and respect the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT). However, it is unclear whether the IAEA, which paved the way for terrorist attacks by Israel and the U.S., is taking robust steps to restart discussions with Iran.
