International Airlines Increase Flights to Maldives

The number of international flights to the Maldives increased by 5% in the first seven months of this year, according to a report by the Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA). The MMA’s Monthly Statistics Report shows that international airlines made 10,187 trips to the Maldives during the first seven months of this year. During the same period last year, 9,698 flights were made to the Maldives. This represents a 5% increase.

While flight movements increase increased during the first seven months of this year, scheduled international airline trips to the Maldives have also increased. During this period this year, 9,358 scheduled trips were made to the Maldives. In the same period last year, 8,866 trips were made. This is a 5.5% increase.

General flight movements decreased during this period. In the first seven months of this year, general flight movements were at 829. During the same period last year, this number was 832. General flights are considered to be charter flights and private jets. While international flight movements have increased, many airlines flying to the Maldives are continuing to increase their scheduled flights to the country.

So far this year, 1.5 million tourists have also visited the Maldives. This is a 9.7% increase compared to the same period last year.
