
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has departed after his inaugural visit to the Maldives at the invitation of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
The Prime Minister concluded his visit and departed in the yesterday evening. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was bid farewell at the airport by Foreign Minister Abdulla Khaleel, Defense Minister Mohamed Ghassan Maumoon, Minister of Home Affairs and Culture Ali Ihusan, and Minister of Finance and Development Planning Moosa Zameer.

Prime Minister Modi’s visit was a two-day trip. He arrived in the Maldives on the morning of the 25th of this month and was welcomed by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu. During this visit, the President and the Indian Prime Minister held high-level discussions on bilateral relations and regional interests. Additionally, 4 Memorandums of Understanding and 3 agreements were signed between the Maldives and India in various fields. Furthermore, Prime Minister Modi inaugurated several projects in the Maldives that were carried out with Indian assistance.
During this visit, a special stamp was also launched to commemorate 60 years of diplomatic relations between the Maldives and India. Moreover, he participated in a program to plant 5 million trees. He also inaugurated the new building of the Ministry of Defense, the Dhoshimeyna Building.
In connection with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s inaugural visit, he attended a state banquet hosted by the President and First Lady.
