Important technological changes in the health sector under the government’s 2.0 project

The First Lady, Fazna Ahmed, has stated that the inclusion of the health sector as one of the priority areas in the government’s Digitalization Program 2.0 demonstrates the hopeful changes the government intends to bring to this sector. The First Lady made these remarks while speaking at the 43rd anniversary ceremony of Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital, where she inaugurated the Telemedicine Pilot Project for the Maldives. This service connects the healthcare system through a special network via telecommunications, utilizing doctors and resources from other hospitals.

Speaking at the ceremony, the First Lady Fazna Ahmed said that along with modern changes, the health sector is also achieving revolutionary advancements. As the Maldives adapts to these developments, she noted that the telemedicine service launched in Kulhudhuffushi will become a service that brings convenience in healthcare and medical treatment to the people. “Due to the government’s 2.0 project, modern technology will be integrated into the health sector with extraordinary certainty. The health sector has been included in the very first tasks of this project. This is a hopeful opportunity for the development of this sector. As the health sector undergoes a revolutionary change, people will gain trust and confidence in this system,” said the First Lady Fazna Ahmed.

Regarding Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital, Fazna highlighted that in the past year alone, over 120,000 people visited doctors at the hospital. She stated that integrating modern technology to ensure the treatment system is the most beneficial approach, describing it as convenient and reliable. The First Lady emphasized the importance of improving personal lifestyle habits, acquiring health education at various levels, learning the knowledge and skills of the field, and building the necessary resources and facilities to create a healthy society. She also noted that physical, mental, and spiritual health play a crucial role in a nation’s development.

In her speech, she acknowledged the progress and success the Maldives has been achieving in strengthening the healthcare system, despite the challenges in providing health services due to the country’s geographical nature. She also recognized and thanked the staff of Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital for their ongoing efforts towards the hospital’s advancement.
