Spain’s national coach De la Fuente has hinted that goalkeeper Joan Garcia, who recently transferred to Barcelona, will be selected for the national team. The national coach said that Garcia, who left who left Espanyol and joined Barcelona during the free week, is a player he has coached in Spain’s Under-21 national team. “So I’ve known him for a long time. He was also a very good player in the Under-21 national team. If he plays for Barcelona, I will definitely call him up to the national team,” the coach said.

However, the coach of the European champion team said that the best goalkeepers in the world are in Spain. Therefore, if Garcia wants to play for the Spanish national team, he will also need to perform well at his club. “I’m saying very clearly that he will have a chance in the national team if he stays fit. But he will have to work hard to get into the Spanish national team. He is a good goalkeeper. But there are already good goalkeepers in the national team. So he will have to work hard,” the coach said.

Joan Garcia, now 24 years old, will also have to work hard to secure the first-choice goalkeeper position at Barcelona. He left Espanyol and transferred to Barcelona after the club assured him that he would be given priority over the two experienced goalkeepers already at the club. However, many believe that it won’t be easy to find a place in the starting eleven with captain and German national goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen and former Polish national goalkeeper Wojciech SzczÄ™sny present. Joan Garcia was the best performing goalkeeper in the Spanish league last season. Barcelona secured his signature while many English Premier League clubs were also pursuing him.
