ID Card Printing and Issuance Service Launched in Alif Alif Atoll

The service for printing and issuing ID cards has been launched at the Alif Alif Atoll Council. The Department of National Registration (DNR) is working diligently to start ID card services in all atolls before the end of this year. Providing ID card services from every inhabited atoll or atoll administrative island is an important policy of the government. Under this policy, the Department of National Registration (DNR) has announced that the service for printing and issuing ID cards has now begun at the Alif Alif Atoll Council.

The Department of National Registration (DNR) stated that with the commencement of ID card services at the Alif Alif Atoll Council, residents of that atoll will now be able to obtain ID cards while remaining in their islands. They also noted that this would expedite and strengthen the ID card service.

DNR mentioned that this service is currently available in 28 islands. Their goal is to start the ID card printing and issuance service in all atolls before the end of this year, according to the department. The government’s aim is to ensure that ID that ID card services, which are linked to many essential services, are available in every island of the Maldives by the end of this year. Additionally, efforts are underway to launch this service in countries frequently visited by Maldivians. In this regard, preparations are being made to start this service in Sri Lanka, India, and the United Kingdom, while ID card services are already being provided in Malaysia.

The initiative to provide ID card printing and issuance services closer to the citizens began in November of last year. The service was first established outside the Male’ area in GA. Villingili. Providing ID card and passport services, which were previously only available in Male’, closer to the citizens through the decentralized system is a pledge of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
