Fuad Thaufeeq, the new Maldivian ambassador to Thailand, has stated that he will work to fully fulfill the responsibilities of his position. In a post on “X” after assuming office, Fuad said he is very grateful to President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu for appointing him as the ambassador to Thailand from the Maldives.
He also stated that he will work under the guidance of the President and the Foreign Ministry to fully carry out the responsibilities of this position. Fuad has worked for many years at the Elections Commission. He served as a member of the EC from September 2008 to September 2009. Subsequently, he served as the President of the EC from September 2009 to March 2014.
After a break, Fuad returned to the EC in November 2019. He was again appointed as the President of the EC in September 2021. His term ended on November 24.
This appointment marks a significant shift in Fuad’s career from electoral management to diplomacy, reflecting the government’s trust in his capabilities to represent the Maldives in international relations.
