President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated that the government will provide full support for the people of Maalhos to economically utilize the Ranfaru lagoon, which has been designated as part of Maalhos. He said this while speaking at a meeting with the residents of Maalhos. President President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu said that the government prioritizes completing the development work for Maalhos, including stalled and new projects. In his speech, the President highlighted that the most important thing for Maalhos is to increase the capacity of the school, and he said that RDC is prepared to carry out this work. He also mentioned that a multipurpose hall, classrooms, and a science lab would be established at the school.
Although the current project was assigned to develop 4 classrooms, the President said that additional classrooms would be included, and this work would begin this month. “I assure you that the ongoing work at the school will continue without interruption,” the President said. The President stated that healthcare services in Maalhos are currently provided in a very old building, and the work on a new building will be assigned to a contractor this year, with construction to begin soon. He also mentioned that the project would include a laboratory and additional facilities.
“I know that although there is a building for administrative work, a building for medical needs is required. We will proceed with that work,” the President said. As part of the work in the sports sector, the President said that laying turf and installing lights on the Maalhos ground would begin within the next two to three weeks, and additional sports facilities, including a handball court, would also be established in Maalhos. During this trip, the President said that the road construction project assigned to RDC would proceed at a rapid pace as desired by the residents. He assured that the island’s affairs would be carried out and completed according to the concept desired by the residents.
The President said that along with the coastal protection project, a special beach for tourists and a beach for residents’ use would be developed. He stated that this work would begin early next year along with the coastal protection project. While prioritizing the projects, the President noted that the newly added Ranfaru lagoon could be extensively used and said it would be widely utilized for the island’s economic activities. AA. Ranfaru lagoon was designated as part of Maalhos by the President on the 6th of this month.
