President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated that he does not support the central government undermining council authorities and reaffirmed his full commitment to the decentralization system. Speaking at a PNC campaign event, the President emphasized that the cooperation of local councils is vital for fulfilling government pledges. Consequently, he urged citizens to elect government-aligned candidates to councils and Women’s Development Committees (WDCs) who will work in harmony with the administration for island development. While noting that the government continues to achieve significant milestones despite economic challenges, the President stressed that sincere cooperation through the local governance system is essential to fully realize these efforts.
