Minister of Higher Education, Vocational Training and Skills Development, Dr. Mariyam Mariya, has urged that every student pursuing higher education should be one whose competence and capability are beyond doubt. Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of Villa College’s Hithadhoo Campus, the Minister said that Villa College has provided many services to Addu City, and the newly opened Hithadhoo Campus is equipped with the most modern facilities.

“It’s important that every student graduating from higher education institutions be someone whose competence is unquestionable. If employed, it’s necessary for every student to have skills that won’t disappoint their employer. If not seeking employment, every student should aim to be skilled enough to sustain their life through self-employment,” Mariya said.

She acknowledged Villa College’s position at the forefront of those working for the advancement of higher education, and also thanked other private entities for their valuable contributions to promoting higher education. The ceremony was attended by Minister Dr. Mariyam Mariya, Addu City Mayor Ali Nizar, Villa College Rector Dr. Ahmed Anwar, and other senior officials.

This statement emphasizes the importance of practical skills and competence in higher education, aligning with the government’s focus on producing graduates who are ready for the job market or capable of creating their own opportunities.
