
Heavy rains in Pakistan have caused flooding, resulting in the deaths of more than 200 people.
The ongoing monsoon in Pakistan is causing thunderstorms, flooding, and landslides. In the past 24 hours, flooding has led to building collapses in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. A helicopter involved in rescue operations has also crashed.
The worst damage due to the adverse weather has been in Pakistan’s Balochistan region. According to the region’s Provincial Chief Secretary, Shahab Ali Shah, flooding and heavy rains have caused 100 deaths in that area.
The crashed helicopter was carrying supplies to people affected by flooding in Pakistan’s Bajur. All five crew members on board have died.
In Pakistan’s Swat, more than 2,000 people have been moved to safer areas due to rising water levels in the region’s rivers.
In recent weeks, unusually heavy rains and flooding in Pakistan have resulted in hundreds of deaths. Due to the current monsoon, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has held an emergency meeting to assess the country’s situation.
