Bank of Maldives (BML) has launched ATM services in all inhabited islands of Haa Dhaalu Atoll under the “BML ATM Nationwide” project. This marks the 9th atoll where BML ATM services have been established in all inhabited islands. As part of the project initiated by Bank of Maldives last November to install ATMs in all inhabited islands across the country, many atolls have already received this service. During his tour of all islands in Haa Dhaalu Atoll, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has inaugurated ATM services in islands where the service was not previously available.
Out of the 13 inhabited islands in HDh. Atoll, the President has launched the service in 10 islands where modern ATM services were not previously available. With the introduction of ATM services in these islands, all inhabited islands in the greater Thiladhunmathi region, including HDh. Atoll, now have access to ATM services. Additionally, a BML branch has been established and opened for service in Nolhivaranfaru.
Islands in HDh. Atoll where self-service ATM services have been launched:
- HDh. Finey
- HDh. Hanimaadhoo
- HDh. Naivaadhoo

Under the ongoing project, including HDh. Atoll, the atolls where BML ATM services have been established in all inhabited islands so far are: HA. Atoll, Sh. Atoll, D. Atoll, N. Atoll, B. Atoll, K. Atoll, and M. Atoll. The project involves installing self-service ATMs that allow 24-hour cash withdrawals and deposits. Bank of Maldives stated that these ATMs will provide various banking services in addition to cash transactions.
BML said that with a banking network covering the entire country, including 42 branches in 20 atolls, 156 Self-Service Banking Centers, 215 ATMs, agent banking services, and the most modern online banking services, Bank of Maldives aims to support individuals, businesses, and communities across different parts of the country. The bank aims to complete this project by the end of this year, under the supervision of the Ministry of Economic Development. BML has stated that this project will empower island communities financially and bring economic progress to these islands.
When BML’s ATM service was first introduced in 2000, it was limited to Male’. The service began expanding to the atolls from 2007 onwards.
