After a long break before the start of the Maldivian football season, Green Streets Club has begun their training with young players, and the hope is to reach the best possible position in the upcoming season, said the club’s coach Ali Nisthar Mohamed. In an interview with PSM News during training, Nisthar said the goal is to take the club to a good position and they will prepare for the new season as best as they can.

Nisthar said Green Streets is always a forward-looking club and they won’t dwell on past issues the club has faced. The team faced financial difficulties earlier in the year. However, the coach said he doesn’t want to talk about that now and wants to move forward with the team. When FAM announced the season start in April, Green Streets was among the clubs that hadn’t begun practice due to budget constraints.

“We hope, God willing, it will be good. There are new players, young players have also come and gone. There are many trial players too. In about a week, we’ll know more about the squad,” Nisthar said.

Green Streets Club captain Mohamed Faruhaan said he hopes the club will be able to put up a good fight, God willing. He said that due to the long break before the season start, players are very eager to play. He also mentioned that the club is entering the new season with many young players and new players in the team.

“We’ve started with many young players. God willing, Green Streets’ aim is to give a good fight. After the break, I think all players are very eager to play. Training is also going very well,” Faruhaan said.

As the Maldivian football season prepares to kick off with the Charity Shield match on September 15, clubs are continuing their training. The Premier League will start on September 18 with 10 clubs.
