Green Holds Back New Radiant

Club Green Streets has prevented New Radiant Sports Club from securing a victory in the Dhiraagu Dhivehi Premier League. The match between the two teams ended in a 2-2 draw. With the point from this match, New Radiant has accumulated 17 points from 7 matches, while Odi Sports Club sits in third place with one point less. There is a four-point gap between New Radiant and table leaders Maziya. With the point earned from this match, Green has moved up from the bottom of the table, having collected 4 points from 7 matches.

In the first minute of the match played at the National Football Stadium, New Radiant’s captain Ali Fasir’s shot from inside the area was saved by Green’s goalkeeper. Six minutes later, New Radiant’s Hassan Raif Ahmed’s attempt from inside the area missed the target. New Radiant took the lead in the 10th minute when Raif carried the ball into the area and scored. New Radiant’s second goal came in the 22nd minute when a shot from a New Radiant player inside the area hit the goalkeeper’s hands and rebounded, allowing Brazilian attacking midfielder Da Silva to score from inside the goal area.

Although Green didn’t create many promising attacks in the first half, they pushed forward in the second half and put pressure on New Radiant’s defense. When Yoosau bin Ali Nasheed carried the ball into New Radiant’s penalty area, Ibrahim Maisan committed a foul, for which the referee awarded a penalty. In the 54th minute, Green’s El Saeed Al Mahmoud converted the penalty to give Green hope. The team equalized with just 2 minutes remaining in the 90-minute match when Mohamed Jailam sent the ball into the area, and while New Radiant’s defenders struggled to clear it properly, Egyptian defender Shuhra Ali Pulatov scored.

With this goal, Green’s players and officials expressed great joy.
