Government Prioritizes Implementation of Religious Policies: Parliament Speaker

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s government is giving special priority to implementing religious policies, and the cooperation of all citizens is essential in this regard, stated Speaker of the People’s Majlis, Abdulla Abdul Raheem Abdulla. He made these remarks while speaking at the opening ceremony of the “Media Maurazu 2025” organized by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs.

Speaker of the People’s Majlis, Abdulla Abdul Raheem Abdulla, emphasized that it is imperative to showcase or inform the public about initiatives undertaken for the benefit and welfare of the citizens.

Abdulla Abdul Raheem further stated that the “Media Maurazu,” organized by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, will serve as an exhibition where all the extensive activities undertaken by the Ministry over the past two years will be collectively revealed and made known to the media and the public.

The Speaker of the Parliament highlighted that one of the most crucial foundational principles laid out by the President for building the Maldivian nation is the implementation of religious policies related to Islam. Abdulla Abdul Raheem Abdulla expressed joy that President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, after assuming office, is proceeding with religious matters with significant emphasis.

“As one example, I wish to highlight President Muizzu’s decision that the most prestigious award in the Maldives should be given to the Holy Quran competition. This is certainly something that the people of a 100% Muslim nation should rejoice over. Previously, this competition did not offer such valuable prizes; much simpler competitions received more significant awards. However, the President decided that in this 100% Muslim Maldives, the most valuable award should be given to the Holy Quran recitation competition. Furthermore, he has facilitated free education up to PhD level for those who achieve special ranks in this competition,” Abdulla Abdul Raheem Abdulla stated.

The Media Maurazu, organized by the Islamic Studio of the Ministry of Islamic Affairs in collaboration with all its sections, is an exhibition held to disseminate information to the media and the public about the Ministry’s achievements, important work undertaken, and the ongoing activities of its individual sections. This marks the second consecutive year that this exhibition is being held.
