The audit report for Fuvahmulah City Council has revealed that the council is yet to receive MVR 4.68 million in outstanding payments. This figure includes various receivables and MVR 1.04 million owed as land rent. Furthermore, the report highlighted that over MVR 1 million in revenue collected from ID card services and security certificates had not been deposited into the bank.

Additionally, the audit disclosed that the council lost MVR 83,998 in performance guarantees following the termination of a street lighting contract. The agreement was cancelled after the contractor failed to undertake any work, and the guarantee was not renewed. The Audit Office also pointed out that attendance allowances were being paid to staff from the council’s revenue in violation of Civil Service regulations. Consequently, the Audit Office has recommended the recovery of these funds and advised taking disciplinary action against the parties responsible for this negligence.
