
The foundation for the new building of N. Atoll Hospital, located in Manadhoo, Miladhunmadulu Dhekunuburi, has been laid. The foundation of the hospital’s new building was laid during a ceremony held this morning in Manadhoo, as part of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s ongoing tour of N. Atoll. The foundation stone was laid by Health Minister Abdullah Nazim Ibrahim and MTCC CEO Ahmed Saudi. The Member of Parliament for Manadhoo constituency, Lawyer Husny Mubarak, and the President of Manadhoo Council, Abdul Rahman Sabeeh, also participated in the event.
The project has been awarded to Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC). The new hospital being developed in Manadhoo will be a 50-bed facility. This project is being carried out by the government at a cost of 187 million rufiyaa. MTCC has been contracted to complete the project within 780 days.

The government states that this modern hospital with numerous services will provide additional convenience for the people of the region and the island to access medical assistance while remaining on the island. During his meeting with the people of Manadhoo as part of his tour of N. Atoll islands, the President announced that new services will be introduced to the hospital along with the new building. These include services in areas such as physiotherapy, mental health, and speech therapy, as the President mentioned. He also revealed that efforts are underway to recruit professionals for these fields.
In his speech, the President emphasized that strengthening the health system of N. Atoll is an important policy within the broader effort to reinforce the country’s healthcare system. As the construction of the new building for Manadhoo Hospital begins, statistics show that the island has a population of about 3,000 people.
