President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu participated in the ceremony held in Dhangethi to lay the foundation for the council office building. At this ceremony, the foundation stone was laid by the Minister of Cities and Administrative Areas and Public Works, Adam Shareef Umar.
This project is being carried out by Rasheed Carpentry and Constructions, RCCC.

The construction of the new Dhangethi Council office building is part of the government’s initiative to develop dilapidated council office buildings. The government’s goal is to develop new council office buildings in more than 100 islands within these five years. RCCC has been contracted to construct new buildings for 55 island council offices in the atolls under a contractor finance scheme. According to the Ministry of Cities, when this 631 million rufiyaa project is completed, it will include boundary walls for the council office compounds and necessary furniture for the offices.
Additionally, an agreement has been signed to proceed with a project to construct 50 council buildings with assistance from the Chinese government. The government has stated that this project will begin soon. This project is set to be funded by the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA). The islands where new council office buildings will be constructed under this design and build project have already been determined.
