Fishing Projects Conducted with Saudi Assistance Bringing Progress to Islands: Minister Shiyam

Minister of Fisheries and Marine Resources, Ahmed Shiyam, has stated that fishing projects conducted with the assistance of Saudi Arabia are bringing progress to the islands. The Minister made this statement in a social media post congratulating the newly appointed Saudi Ambassador to the Maldives, Yahya Hassan Al-Qahtani, who presented his credentials to President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.

In his post, the Minister welcomed the Ambassador upon presenting his credentials to the President. He also highlighted the close friendly relations developing between the Maldives and Saudi Arabia, stating that this relationship is valued by the Maldives. Noting the assistance Saudi Arabia has been providing to the Maldives’ fisheries sector, the Minister of Fisheries said that with the ice plants and cold storages being developed on the islands, the Maldivian fisheries sector is seeing notable progress. He added that this is also bringing development to the islands.

The new Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to the Maldives, Yahya Hassan Al-Qahtani, presented his credentials to the President during a ceremony held at the President’s Office on Sunday. Following this, the President met with the new Ambassador, and they discussed areas where the relationship between the two countries could be further strengthened.

During this meeting, the President expressed his profound gratitude to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and King of Saudi Arabia, Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, as well as to the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, for the valuable assistance and cooperation that the Saudi government continues to provide to the Maldives.
