The Immigration Office in B. Eydhafushi has been officially opened. The office was inaugurated by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu during his ongoing tour of B. Atoll. Facilitating easy access to national identity cards and passport services for citizens is a key policy of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu. Under this policy, the government aims to launch ID card and passport services across all regions of the Maldives before the end of this year.
As part of this policy, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu officially opened the Immigration Office established in B. Eydhafushi. During the opening ceremony, the first passport processed in Eydhafushi was handed over to its recipient. The Minister of Internal Security and Professional Development, Ali Ihsan, presented the passport to the first person to receive passport services in Eydhafushi.
As part of the effort to expand this service nationwide, which began last November, services have been launched in 11 atolls so far. While passport and ID card services are being provided in various regions of the Maldives, these services for Maldivian passports and ID cards have also been initiated in Malaysia. This marks the first country where these services have been launched outside the Maldives.
